These pictures
were an exploration of photographic possibilities. My inspiration
had been photographs by Edward Weston, Andre Kertesz and Brassai, Lee
Friedlander and Gary Winogrand. While committed to a straight-forward
vision (found
subject matter, whole-frame compositions, conventional silver-gelatin
process, air-dried glossy prints), I had begun to practice
a more printerly
approach to
photography
by selectively
masking and toning some of my prints. |
